Even though Matchmaker is not the largest online dating service, it provides easy and intuitive features essential to meeting people online. One of the oldest dating sites on the Internet, Matchmaker clientele is slightly older than many other dating services, with nearly 80% of users over the age of 35. Singles who subscribe to Matchmaker are typically professionals, with an average income over $60,000 who are educated and serious about finding a healthy long-term relationship. The site has more than 2 million registered members and online users and thousands of new profiles added each week.
There are a variety of ways to search, including "who's online", "who's new" in your area, and even a tool to find members celebrating a birthday. Communicate with other members via instant messaging, email or expressions of interest. Send a digital gift, chat and mark members as favorites. Although the profile photos are on the small side, you can click to enlarge the image.
The site provides a FAQ page, an advice section and an online magazine, Date Info, to help make the process more convenient. Download the Matchmaker toolbar to get immediate notification when someone makes contact and access all parts of the Matchmaker service.
There is a free trial membership that allows you to register your profile and perform searches. Upgrade to a paid membership and your profile will be listed first in the search results and begin to freely communicate with other members. Substantial savings can be made by purchasing an annual membership ($9.95 per month) versus a single month for $29.95. Profile photos are encouraged, and for anyone without the technical tools or skills to upload a photo, the service will upload a photo if it's sent through the mail to Matchmaker.
Matchmaker is great for people who want to use an online service with a large pool of prospective dates, but for anyone looking for a deeper connection, some of the other dating services offer more compatibility options.
