Established in 1995, Match.com has become
one of the largest and most popular dating sites available online.
With over 8 million members and growing, it's user-friendly features and advanced
communication options give it broad appeal to experienced online
daters and newcomers alike.
Similar to most of it's competitors, Match
offers free limited access to users. While "free" members
won't benefit from every feature available, this "limited access"
is for an unlimited period of time. You can complete and post a
profile (with pictures), search the member database, and receive
"winks" and email messages. But only paying members can
send messages. So if you see someone you like, you'll have to pay
a monthly membership fee to write a response or to make that first
contact.
With various forms of communication available
such as IM, chat, email, telephone, video, audio,
etc., you have a variety of options to "connect" at Match.
To ensure privacy, they've included built-in “anonymizer” features
to ensure a safe and secure enviroment no matter what options you
choose.
Match.com's sign up process is both quick
and painless. But it's relaxed profile requirements can be a blessing
and a curse. While users can have a profile up-and-running in minutes,
searching for the "ideal match" can be difficult at times.
Even though many members take the time to create comprehensive and
accurate profiles, others leave much to the imagination by not answering
profile questions and only writing one or two sentence descriptions.
But the introduction of “Two-Way Matching”
and the “Venus” program have made it easier by narrowing down the
most compatible matches based upon completed profile questions.

informative. Match also offers helpful advice, information, and
